What a strange name to call your town – Banff

July 28, 2022, Banff

We visited Banff both yesterday and the day before, but for a very short period of time. 2 Day ago we were in the cinema to watch “Thor – Love and Thunder” and yesterday we walked around the downtown looking for a place to eat, but Barak was very stubborn and at the end we went to another place to eat sushi.

Today, we took the gondola up to the mountains above Banff – and all I have to say is WOW!!! In my opinion it is one of the most beautiful places we have been to during this trip, maybe even the most beautiful of all.

Gourmet dinner

For budgetary reasons, we do not fly directly from Anchorage to Seattle, but fly with a 4-hour layover at Juno’s tiny airport.

I stayed with our bags, and Zeevik and the children went out to the bustling city of LARP, and have dinner.

The kids chose to eat at the local gourmet restaurant. I do not know what they ate, but these were their desserts (and maybe that’s all they ate 🤨…)

I, on the other hand, ate at the Michelin star restaurant at the airport

Denali National Park – 2

It’s midnight and my window is lid with sunlight as if it was 6pm. Zeevik managed to cover the window fixed in the door of the caravan. I do not understand this and if I could I would ask those who designed the caravan: what were they thinking when they.made it  possible to darken the whole caravan except in two places, the window fixed in the door and the window above the bed above the driver? Were they to cheap to pay for two curtains? Did they want anyone sleeping in the center of the caravan to suffer from insomnia ???

Denali National Park

9am, Zeevik asks if we should wake up the kids and start the day. While we are trying to start our day, Nadav calls from Mexico. Wants to know what are our plans for August. We also want to know… Give us a few days (so what if we say that since  March ???)

We drove half an hour from the camp site  to the Denali National Park. Denali is the highest mountain in North America and from what I read most of the area around it is a nature reserve. The nature here is quiet. Do not know how to explain it differently. Someone put this nature here and it has been here ever since. motionless. Almost on the verge of boredom. Everything is beautiful, but static and monotonous. I do not think I make myself clear…

The way to Seattle

I only vaguely remember the road from Sunnyvale to Seattle. On the way out of Sunnyville I texted Liat and Mickey, and I do not think I even saw the drop to I-237 …

I was sitting in the back with one of the child probably Yoav, because at some point I remember I had a cramp in my foot and I asked him to give me a massage – he has Zeevik’s gift in working charms over my feet and back ….

So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish

We finished packing our lives, the container has been taken, we cleaned and returned the key to the house that was our home for the last 3 years (exactly!)

We packed our bags, put everything in the car, took one last photo near the house, and set off. We lived in Sunnyvale, California, for 11 years (minus two months).

Today our new-old life begins. In 4-7 weeks, after a trip to Alaska – the Canadian Rockies – maybe Montana, we will land at Ben Gurion Airport and slowly get used to the chaotic life in Israel.

You are welcome to join our experience in the coming weeks / months. If my plan works, each of the kids (including Zeevik) will write a post once a week so there will be a lot of updates here (however, every plan is a basis for changes and we, as we know, do not work according to the plans …)

Let’s have fun!
